One Wine One Rose

by the way ……… you’ll hear me asking if what I just played sounded OK from my wonderful dog “Beau”, who happened to be in the studio. From what I could tell , he seemed to like it !

The Einstein Concert

My next CD is based on the book I read “Einstein … His Life and Universe” by Walter Isaacson.

Each composition will be from different periods in his life. The opening composition is called “One Wine One Rose” pt.1, and is based on the song, “The Days of Wine and Roses”. I choose this to capture the beauty of his life (the melody) with the constant struggles (you’ll hear the dissonance in the improvisation) he faced with the science community as well as his personal life.

This CD will have more acoustic piano playing as opposed to all electronic, like my first two CDs.

Hope you like it, and as always, would love to hear your comments.

Musical Portraits

Since most of my music starts with a scene, picture or idea.  I thought it might be cool to do “Musical Portraits”. A person, event or something personal in your life that now has your own signature song. If this interests you, shoot me an email at jeff@newindieartists.com

Radiohead Campaign Update

So far, so good!
The people that have been giving the CDs (mostly in restaurants ) are excited about it!  The general response seems to be, “ohmygod, I love the stuff you’re doing. I thought it would be like jazz standards, with piano, bass and drums… but this music is so different. it’s great !!!”

I’m still waiting for more feedback about the music… but it’s still early.

If anyone has other ideas on how to market my music, I am eager to hear them!

Taking the lead from Radiohead

So I’ve been thinking what I should write about first…

I’m sure I’ll write about all of it at some point, but I want to start with my “new” way of getting my music out there.

I’m a huge Radiohead fan. When I heard about how their new CD “In Rainbows” was being released, with fans asked to pay whatever they think it is worth, I decided to try the same thing for 35 Days In May. I went to some restaurants that I frequent and asked the owners if they would like to give my CD to some of their customers. Along with the CD is a self addressed, stamped envelope with a 3×5 card. I have a short greeting, and then ask for their e mail and then, if they like the music, to pay anything they want.

I just did this yesterday, so I’ll let you know how it goes. Hopefully I’ll meet lots of people that enjoy my music.
